Forced to flee their home by the ongoing conflict in
Syria, Taghreid and her family found themselves
living in an Internal Displacement Camp (IDC) in
Mosul, Iraq.
As well as being physically displaced
from her home, Taghreid found herself increasingly
isolated by the lack of freedom afforded to young
women in Iraq.
Through FREE TO RUN’s program, she has found
relief from this repression and prejudice by running
with other girls her age - forging strong friendships
that both motivate and bring happiness.
